Costs of OM System accessories are set to rise. Determining which equipment will experience the most price increase.

In a recent move, OM System, the Micro Four Thirds camera and lens manufacturer, has announced a price adjustment on its accessories and consumer audio products in the United States. This decision follows the introduction of reciprocal tariffs by the US government, which has led to an increase in import costs.

The price increase, effective from September 8, 2022, affects several products, including the M.Zuiko Digital 1.4x Teleconverter MC-14, which has seen an 11 percent rise from its previous price of $349 to $389. However, the brand's 2X teleconverter remains at its original list price.

While OM System has confirmed the price increase, it has not yet commented on whether the list prices on cameras and lenses will also follow suit. Other major camera manufacturers, such as Canon, Fujifilm, Leica, Nikon, Sigma, and Sony, have already adjusted US list prices on many of their cameras and lenses, potentially due to similar increases in import costs.

Interestingly, some of OM System's gear originates from Vietnam, a country with a 20 percent reciprocal tariff agreement in place. This could suggest that the price adjustments may not be uniform across all product categories.

Rumor websites are warning of a potential price increase for OM System beginning in early October. Panasonic, another Micro Four Thirds giant, has also been rumored for a price increase at the end of September.

A banner on OM System's US website announces the price increase for accessories and consumer audio products, but as of now, there are no search results indicating that OM System has announced any product categories other than cameras and lenses on September 8, 2022, in the USA.

This price adjustment by OM System is part of a larger trend in the photography industry, as manufacturers grapple with the impact of tariffs on their import costs and, consequently, their product prices.
