In an 11-day livestream extravaganza, Ben Holmen's groundbreaking Kilopixel display captivated audiences worldwide. This unique device, boasting 200,000 pixels, has now concluded its first season with a "that's all for Season One" message, marking the end of a remarkable digital art journey.

Holmen, the creator of the Kilopixel display, has no plans for a follow-up machine, considering it a one-of-a-kind device. However, he has added a new mode to the Kilopixel, which will now randomly select and redraw a submission from the livestream each day, adding an element of surprise to the art. Holmen has dubbed this new mode as "surprise art" in his office.

Throughout the livestream, Holmen received a total of 421 submissions, and 206,204 pixels were flipped on the display. Despite the 24/7 nature of the livestream, Holmen mentioned that he expected to grow tired of babysitting the project.

No inappropriate content, such as representations of male genitalia, was drawn on the Kilopixel display, according to Holmen. Pictures of the complete woodblock display and a close-up of the wooden blocks turning to create an image are available, courtesy of Ben Holmen.

After the 11-day livestream phase, Holmen replaced the Kilopixel with a new, upgraded digital art project. Yet, the original Kilopixel display will continue to make appearances, with Holmen planning to keep it in the background of his webcam during meetings. This will allow his coworkers to play with it using a private URL, adding a touch of interactive art to their virtual meetings.
