Criminal Activities and Emergencies: Weaponized burglary, blazes, and smokey chaos, vehicle crashes, theft of furniture, carjacking, physical attacks on intoxicated law enforcement
In the past 24 hours, several incidents and accidents have taken place across our region, affecting the lives of many residents. Here's a summary of some of the notable events that have transpired.
A 23-year-old woman in TΓΌbingen is under suspicion for causing dangerous bodily harm to her roommate. The details of the incident are still under investigation. In a separate incident, a 39-year-old man sustained severe injuries during a brawl, with two men aged 41 and 20 being suspected of the attack.
The roadways have also seen their share of accidents. A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries in a traffic accident on the K 6744, while a senior citizen sustained injuries of previously unknown magnitude in Esslingen. The traffic police in Esslingen are appealing for witnesses to a serious traffic accident that occurred on the ramp from the B10 to the B313.
Unfortunately, there have been instances of theft as well. Two men were caught red-handed stealing garden chairs from a senior residence on Tuesday evening. In another case, a criminal posing as a service technician stole a four-figure sum of cash from a man in Deutenhofen.
There have been some unusual occurrences too. A trickster approached residents in Leinfelden-Echterdingen on Tuesday morning, claiming to be a gardener and offering to do work. The suspect is described as approximately 175-180 cm tall with a dark complexion.
A fire broke out in a hotel room on Tuesday evening, but the fire department was quick to respond and extinguish the flames, ventilate the room and the hallway, and conduct measurements on the affected floor. Initial investigations suggest that a technical defect in a plugged-in power bank may have caused the fire.
In a more bizarre turn of events, an 82-year-old woman got stuck on a bollard, causing her wheelchair to tip over and her to fall to the ground.
In a series of disturbing incidents, a 44-year-old man was stopped by police early Wednesday morning for suspected drunk driving and assaulting police officers. A man was also taken to the hospital after a brawl in Reutlingen's Listpark on Tuesday evening.
Lastly, a man was trapped in the lift of a multi-story car park for about 45 minutes. Fortunately, he was eventually rescued and received medical attention.
The authorities are urging anyone with information regarding these incidents to come forward and help in the investigations. Stay safe, everyone.
