Criminal Division 1 Augsburg welcomes its new leader, effective from August 1st, in the region of POL Schwaben Nord.
In the city of Augsburg, a change of leadership has taken place at the Kriminalpolizeiinspektion (Criminal Police Inspection) Augsburg and the Kriminalfachdezernat 1 (Criminal Department 1, or KFD 1) Augsburg.
On August 1, 2025, Kriminaldirektor Simon Crauser assumed the role of head of KFD 1 Augsburg, following the departure of Dirk Schmidt. Schmidt, who had served in this position for over five years, moved to Police Headquarters Oberbayern Nord as the new police vice president on May 1, 2025.
Crauser's appointment ceremony took place in Augsburg on August 29, 2025, with Police President Martin Wilhelm welcoming him to his new role. Prior to this, Crauser served as the deputy head of the Augsburg Mitte police inspection for five years.
Thomas Hauck, the first Kriminalhauptkommissar, had been acting in charge of the department for three months prior to Crauser's appointment. His tenure ended on July 31, 2025.
