Cross-border arrest linked to tramway incident involving BPOLI-WEIL
In an incident that took place on August 31, 2025, German authorities apprehended a 30-year-old individual at the Weil am Rhein - Friedlingen border crossing from Basel, who was wanted on two arrest warrants.
The man, whose nationality remains unclear, had two outstanding arrest warrants against him. The first warrant was issued last year due to his failure to pay a fine for a theft conviction. The second warrant was issued this year after he failed to appear for a main hearing in another theft case, leading to the issuance of a second arrest warrant.
The Federal Police, who made the arrest, subsequently remanded the suspect into custody. The man's theft convictions date back to last year.
Friedrich Blaschke, the head of the Bundespolizeiinspektion Weil am Rhein, oversaw the operation. He can be contacted via phone at +49 7628 8059 1011 or via email at [email protected]. Further inquiries can be directed to the same contact details.
