In the heart of Cologne, Germany, on a recent day, an anti-war march organised by the coalition "Disarm Rheinmetall" took an unexpected turn. The peaceful demonstration, which saw a large number of participants, was disrupted by violent clashes between protesters and the police.

The disorderly acts, which continued into the night, led to a series of unfortunate events. A group responsible for the attacks was promptly detained by the police, with several individuals suspected of involvement also being identified.

The clashes resulted in twelve police officers being injured, with four having to end their shift due to the severity of their injuries. A spokesperson for the protesters also reported injuries, although details about the extent and number of these injuries are not yet clear.

During the chaos, pyrotechnics, burning spirit, and gas bottles were found in a vehicle accompanying the protest. The police believe these items were used in the attacks on officers and the repeated violations of assembly law.

In an effort to maintain order and prevent further attacks, the police resorted to using pepper spray and batons. Regrettably, the rally had to be stopped due to the escalating violence.

Several people were taken into custody as a result of the clashes, but the exact number is not yet known. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of peaceful protest and adherence to the law.

As investigations continue, the city of Cologne and its residents hope for a return to tranquility and the resumption of peaceful demonstrations in the future.
