Crowds of tourists and locals flood the initial day of the Attack on Titan Japanese manga exhibition
The "Attack on Titan Exhibition FINAL ver. Hong Kong" has opened its doors at The Twins shopping centre in Kai Tak, attracting both local residents and Mainland Chinese tourists.
The exhibition, which is a part of the "Attack on Titan" franchise, features over 200 artwork replicas, animations, and interview clips with creator Hajime Isayama. A highlight of the exhibition is a towering 6.2-metre-tall display.
The popular manga series, first published in 2009, spanned over 11 years and concluded in April 2021. It has since been adapted into live-action films, computer games, a stage musical, and an animated television series. The series has sold more than 140 million copies since its publication.
Connie Wu, a 23-year-old aviation professional from Shanghai, extended her trip to attend the exhibition. She was among the approximately 50 visitors who arrived at the venue before its 11am opening.
Ms. Wu spent approximately HK$2,000 (US$257) on souvenirs at the exhibition. She purchased items not only for herself but also for her friends. Fans at the exhibition have been purchasing exclusive souvenirs available only in Hong Kong.
While some visitors arrived without a reserved ticket with a designated time slot, the exhibition has been well-attended. On its opening day, it was reported that the exhibition opened on Tuesday in Hong Kong.
