CSKA triumphs over Dynamo in the opening match of the KHL's new season
CSKA Moscow began the 2025-2026 KHL season on a high note, securing a convincing 6:2 victory over rivals Dynamo Moscow on September 5.
The match saw a flurry of goals from CSKA Moscow, with Denis Gurianov, Kirill Dolzhenkov, and Daniel Sprong finding the back of the net in the first half. Pavel Karnaukhov and Vitaly Abramov added to the tally in the second half, while Ivan Drozdov sealed the deal with a goal in the 57th minute.
Dynamo Moscow managed to score twice, with Nikita Gusev and Kirill Adamchuk getting on the scoresheet, but it was not enough to prevent a comprehensive defeat.
Igor Nikitin, who returned to CSKA Moscow after previously winning the Gagarin Cup with them in 2019, is the new head coach for the current season. Nikitin has signed a contract for the next five seasons, and his tactical acumen was evident in the team's impressive display.
The news of CSKA Moscow's victory is being widely discussed on the Telegram channel "RBC Sport".
Looking ahead, CSKA Moscow will host Admiral Vladivostok in their next game on September 10, while Dynamo Moscow will play Sochi at home on September 9.
