Customs Office in Münster Conducts Inspections to Enforce Labor Laws and Fair Competition
The Main Customs Office in Münster, Germany, has been actively enforcing labor laws and ensuring fair competition in the region. Last week, extensive inspections were carried out under the Anti-Bribery Act on June 16th, but no instances of pseudo-self-employment or minimum wage underpayment were found.
The investigations are aimed at protecting employees, maintaining the integrity of the German labor market, and combating bribery, fraud, and other illegal activities related to customs and immigration. The Financial Control Schwarzarbeit of the customs office routinely checks for proper employee registration, social security, work permits, residence titles, and minimum wage compliance.
In the cities of Münster, Dülnen, and Rheine, large construction sites were inspected by 49 customs officers. A total of around 100 people were checked. In Münster and Dülnen, no significant issues were found, but in Rheine, out of 63 people inspected, 13 were found to be illegally in Germany. These individuals were taken to the Foreigners' Office in the city of Rheine.
One person was found hiding in a basement under a tarp in Rheine, while another without a residence permit was found in Münster. The person from Münster was also taken to the responsible Foreigners' Office by the customs office.
The investigations are carried out through interviews and checks of business records. In some cases, database comparisons and further documents will be used. The Main Customs Office Münster will investigate cases of suspected pseudo-self-employment and minimum wage underpayment in the coming weeks.
