Da Nang Airport constructs a new cargo facility
Da Nang International Airport, one of Vietnam's busiest airports, is gearing up for significant growth with a series of infrastructure projects planned for 2025-26.
The highlight of these projects is the construction of a new cargo terminal, designed to handle 100,000 tonnes of cargo per year, making it the first fully automatic operation in central Vietnam. The terminal will be built on 2.46ha of land with an investment of US$24 million.
The ground-breaking ceremony for the new cargo terminal was held recently at the airport. The cargo terminal and nine other projects are expected to be operational in the fourth quarter of 2026.
In 2024, the airport handled 32,400 tonnes of cargo and earned a total revenue of $64 million. With the new cargo terminal, the airport aims to meet the increasing demands of air cargo services in the coming decades.
The airport has already made a name for itself, having been listed among the 100 best airports in the world in 2024 by Skytrax. It was also ranked among the top five airports with capacity of hosting from four to 20 million passengers per year at Routes Asia 2024.
The airport currently services approximately 112 flights per day, with 24 direct air routes, including 16 international routes. Passengers can expect improved service quality at Terminal 1, as plans are underway to upgrade it to a four-star standard.
To further enhance passenger experience, the Airports Corporation of our website (ACV-ΔaΜ NaΜΜng) is cooperating with AIAIVN company in launching a multi-language Chatbot to support passengers with 50 languages. The airport also applies completely automated service for passengers from check-in to boarding.
German company Lufthansa Technik is involved in the realisation of the first fully automatic cargo terminal at Da Nang International Airport. With these developments, the airport is set to continue its growth and maintain its position as a key player in Vietnam's aviation industry.
