"Daily distressing phone calls reported by locals": Unsanctioned night encampment in Munich troubles residents

In the heart of Munich, residents have been expressing concerns about a growing issue in the area around the intersection of Siegenburger and RĂźdesheimer Streets. For several months, people have been sleeping in their cars or on the lawn in the bush area, with up to 17 vehicles with Romanian license plates reportedly present.

The loud conversations and late-night activities, including playing football in the street area, have been a source of disruption for local residents. A resident, attributing the recent quieter days to rainy weather, has voiced their concerns.

The police station 41 has been receiving several complaints per week about this situation. In response, the police and KVR (Kommunale Verwaltung fĂźr Raumordnung) have established a new prioritized procedure for handling unauthorized overnight stays. The KVR ensures accelerated processing, and the complaint is then sent back to the reporting police station.

The PI 41 continues to file complaints for unauthorized use and submit them to the relevant authority. However, place bans are regularly issued, but since the people are usually without a fixed address, the fines cannot be delivered.

Kriminalhauptkommissar Thomas Lentner has spoken out in favour of clearing the camps in Siegenburger Street and RĂźdesheimer Street. The decision and implementation of this lie with the working group on wild camping, based at the Social Affairs Office. The decision on this is still pending, according to Lentner.

GĂźnter Keller (SPD), chairman of the local BA, has received several desperate calls daily from residents disturbed by this situation. The notice of the fine is handed out directly by the local police station, in this case the PI 41, to the respective persons.

It's important to note that a large number of administrative offenses, usually violations of the Bavarian Streets and Paths Act, have been recorded and forwarded to the fine office. No new information about the number of people or specific offenses was provided in this paragraph.

Daniela Borsutzky is the author of the article, titled "Comments". The decision of the working group on wild camping of the social authority regarding unauthorized overnight stays in Siegenburger and RĂźdesheimer streets in Munich is still pending.
