In the small community of Be'eri, a tragic event occurred 696 days ago that left a lasting impact. Ilan, a respected member of the Be'eri Emergency Response Team, was brutally murdered while selflessly trying to save lives and arm the standby squad during a time of chaos.

On that fateful day, now known as Black Saturday, Racheli and Tal, Ilan's close friends, recalled instructing their friends to seek safety and managing the emergency center from their homes as the skies turned dark and Be'eri became a bloody battlefield.

Racheli and Tal described Ilan as the quiet heart of the team, a man who was calculated, smart, diligent, and methodical. His dedication to his duties and his unwavering commitment to helping others were traits that made him an invaluable asset to the team.

As the violence escalated, Ilan was sent out to save lives and arm the standby squad. Tragically, his life was cut short by the murderers. Racheli and Tal stated that Ilan went out to save lives and give weapons to the standby squad, and his life was cruelly taken from him.

In the aftermath of Ilan's death, Osnat Weiss Shoshan, Ilan's sister, closed the private circle of Ilan's immediate family. However, she has continued to fight for the return of the remaining hostages, expressing her gratitude for the IDF, Shin Bet, and the supporters who brought Ilan's remains back home.

The struggle for peace and the release of remaining hostages in the region is not limited to Be'eri. Key figures such as former US President Donald Trump, who is involved in negotiating ceasefire proposals with Israel and Hamas, and Volker TΓΌrk, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, who has criticized the ongoing conflict and advocated for Palestinian protection, are also actively involved. Israeli officials like Gideon Lahav also emphasize the importance of prioritizing the hostages' release.

Despite the pain and loss, Osnat Weiss Shoshan finds solace in believing that Ilan's spirit remains with them, hidden yet present. The friends of Ilan from the Be'eri Emergency Response Team continue to honour his memory by carrying on the work he started, always remembering the quiet heart that was Ilan.
