Day's Agenda for 'Tour dementia': Action Plan for Family Members and Affected Individuals, Details of the Day's Event
On September 17, 2025, the City of Bergisch Gladbach will host an action day focused on the theme of "Dementia". The event, organised by the Regional Office for Aging, Care, and Dementia Bergisches Land, aims to share knowledge, support relatives, and facilitate encounters.
The action-packed day offers a varied program from morning to evening. Highlights include a lecture titled "Dement - what now?" led by Chief Physician Meike Jacobsen from the EVK Bergisch Gladbach at 10:00 AM at the DRK Refrather Treff - Steinbrecher Weg 2. Another key event is a lecture titled "Driving with dementia - assistance for relatives and interested parties" led by Nicole Sutschet, Police Sergeant and Traffic Safety Advisor of the Accident Prevention, at the Volkshochschule (VHS) Bergisch Gladbach - BuchmΓΌhlenstraΓe 12 from 5:30-7:00 PM.
Participation in all events is free, but registration is required for the offer at 4:00 PM "With all senses in rhythm of memory" by September 15, 2025. The City Library has an information booth and interactive activity, while the Aging Support Office provides information and materials. Care counseling Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis also offers consultations, information, and materials.
The event is timed to coincide with the upcoming World Alzheimer's Day. The Regional Office marks this day annually with a bicycle tour, the "Tour Demenz", through the Bergisches Land. This year, the "Tour Demenz" includes a stop in Bergisch Gladbach. The bicycle group arrives at the market square around 3:25 PM and is welcomed by the First Deputy Mayor Anna Maria Scheerer.
Radwerk (Caritas) accompanies the bicycle group of the Regional Office for Aging, Care, and Dementia Bergisches Land. The event on the Market Square City Center offers various information booths from 2:30 PM. The contact office for self-help care provides information for caring relatives at one of the booths.
Thanks to numerous network and cooperation partners, there will be lectures, exhibitions, interactive activities, and information booths throughout the day. The goal is to provide a comprehensive understanding of dementia and offer support to those affected and their families. Don't miss this opportunity to learn, connect, and support!
