Deadly Car Crash on Federal Highway 76 Close to Eutin, Ohio

A tragic incident occurred on August 28, 2025, on federal highway 76 near Dodauer Forest, resulting in a fatality and significant disruption to traffic.

According to the police, the accident involved a tractor with a trailer, driven by a 17-year-old individual, and a Ford car driven by a 21-year-old driver from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The younger driver, unfortunately, lost their life at the scene due to injuries sustained in the accident. The tractor driver, however, managed to escape with minor injuries after the vehicle caught fire following the collision.

The Ford sustained severe front-end damage, and the tractor was completely destroyed by the fire, resulting in a total loss estimated at around 360,000 euros. Emergency services, including three volunteer fire departments, an ambulance, and a rescue helicopter's doctor, were promptly dispatched to the scene.

Traffic was rerouted due to the closed federal highway, and it remained closed until Friday morning as the investigation into the accident and the cleanup efforts took place. The road maintenance department also inspected the condition of the road surface.

The exact circumstances and cause of the accident are being investigated by the police in Eutin. An expert called to the scene by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Lübeck will determine the exact cause of the accident. The burned-out tractor and the Ford were seized by the police for further investigation.
