Deadly shooting in Silver Spring claims life of a 17-year-old, according to authorities

A shooting incident in Silver Spring, Maryland, has left one teenager dead and is currently being investigated as a homicide. The incident occurred in the 700 block of University Boulevard East on Tuesday night, around 11:30 p.m.

According to the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD), officers found a 17-year-old boy deceased at the scene. The victim's name has been identified as Deonte Banks. Two additional individuals were located at the scene, but they were not injured.

The MCPD is actively searching for the suspect(s) involved in the shooting. At this time, no suspects are in custody. The police department has not released any further details about the suspect(s) or the motive for the shooting.

The victim's body has been taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy. The shooting is an isolated incident, unrelated to any other shooting incidents in the area, such as the one in Alexandria.
