In the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, the Israeli army has launched a major ground offensive in an attempt to fully militarily occupy the city of Gaza. This offensive, under the leadership of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir, aims to destroy Hamas's military infrastructure and gain control over Gaza City completely.

The Israeli army has accused Hamas of placing explosives in attacked buildings and using civilian infrastructure as human shields. However, the claims about the attacks and casualties cannot be independently verified.

The Israeli army has also claimed to spare the civilian population in its attacks on Hamas and other terror targets. Yet, at least 40 Palestinians have died in Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip since early morning, with 25 of these deaths occurring in the city of Gaza alone. Six Palestinians waiting for aid were reportedly killed in Israeli shelling, according to several Palestinian media outlets.

These tragic events have sparked international concern. The international community is expressing worry about the conduct of the war in Israel and its impact on the civilian population in the Gaza Strip. The condemnation of the war in Israel by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker TΓΌrk, is a significant criticism from the international community.

On Monday, Volker TΓΌrk spoke out against the war in Israel, focusing his condemnation on the mass killing of people and destruction in the Gaza Strip. He also condemned the destruction in the Gaza Strip, emphasising the need to protect civilians and uphold international humanitarian law.

The Israeli military is reportedly investigating these reports of civilian casualties. It remains to be seen what actions will be taken to address these concerns and ensure the safety of the civilian population in the Gaza Strip.

As the conflict continues, the international community will no doubt continue to watch closely and express their concerns about the ongoing violence and its impact on the civilian population.
