Death Valley's Second Season: All the Updates

In an exciting turn of events, fans of the hit BBC series Death Valley can look forward to the return of their favourite characters in the upcoming second season. The series, which is a BBC Studios Comedy in association with BritBox for BBC One and iPlayer, is currently in production and is expected to be released in early 2026, though an official confirmation is yet to be made.

Detective Sergeant Janie Mallowman, played by Gwyneth Keyworth, will once again take centre stage in Death Valley season 2. Keyworth expressed her excitement about reprising her role, stating, "I'm thrilled to be back as Janie for Death Valley season 2. I can't wait to see what new mysteries we'll unravel this time around."

Joining Keyworth in the cast are several familiar faces, including Alexandria Riley as Helen Baxter, Steffan Rhodri as DCI Barry Clarke, Melanie Walters as Yvonne Mallowman, and Rithvik Andugula as DC Evan Chaudhry. Timothy Spall, who played retired actor John Chapel in the first season, will also be returning, looking forward to revisiting the unusual partnership between John and Janie.

While plot details for Death Valley season 2 remain under wraps, it is speculated that John's relationship with Janie's mum, Yvonne Mallowman, will be further explored. Additionally, viewers can anticipate top-name guest stars, as was the case in season 1, though specific names have yet to be announced.

Intriguingly, Jim Howick, who briefly appeared as Constable Atkins in John's TV show Caesar, is expected to return in Death Valley season 2. The upcoming season will consist of six 45-minute episodes and will be written by the series creator, Paul Doolan, with additional material by Sian Harries.
