Declining Revenues for SoftwareOne in the Initial Half of 2025
SoftwareOne and Crayon Report First-Half Financial Results
SoftwareOne and its recently acquired Norwegian competitor, Crayon Group, have released their combined financial results for the first half of 2025. The integration of Crayon into the SoftwareOne group is progressing as planned, according to statements from both companies.
Despite the integration, SoftwareOne's revenue for the first half of 2025 declined by 8% compared to the same period in 2024, totaling CHF 487.7 million. This decline is attributed to a decrease in earnings from software licensing, specifically in the DACH region where earnings decreased by 2.9%.
However, the EBITDA result for the first half of 2025 increased from CHF 82.2 million to CHF 85 million, due to cost-cutting measures and strict cost control. No further details about these measures were provided.
The cumulative figures published by both companies show that they together achieved a net revenue of CHF 772.3 million in the first half of 2025, a decline of six percent compared to the first half of 2024. It's important to note that the revenues of the acquired Norwegian IT service provider Crayon are not yet included in SoftwareOne's figures for the first half of 2025.
Crayon's gross revenue for the first half of 2025 increased by 20% to NOK 38.5 billion. This figure, communicated by Crayon, refers to the total value of the software traded. In contrast, the net revenue figure for both companies does not include the value of the software traded, but only the earnings generated from the mediation of licenses.
SoftwareOne has managed to partially offset the decline in Microsoft business by securing more contracts with other software vendors and winning new customers from the public sector in DACH. The decline in revenue in the DACH region is due to changes in Microsoft's incentives for Enterprise Agreements and unusually strong business in the first half of 2024.
As of the end of this year, the combined workforce of both companies stands at 12,928 FTE (Full-Time Equivalents), compared to 13,441 at the end of June 2024. No further information about the financial performance of other regions or software vendors outside of DACH was provided in the current paragraph.
In June 2025, SoftwareOne officially announced the acquisition of Crayon Group. The acquisition was made after the first half of the year, and the integration and synergy realization process was ongoing during the year. SoftwareOne still lists the revenues of Crayon separately in its calculations.
In 2024, SoftwareOne achieved a gross revenue of EUR 2.2372 billion in Germany, according to the Top 25 list of the largest system houses. This figure was not included in the first-half financial results discussed above.
