Defending the Tour de France Femmes yellow jersey: AG Insurance-Soudal's plans for Kim Le Court's title defense, according to the statement.

In the rebooted version of the Tour de France Femmes, a thrilling race is unfolding, with Mauritian cyclist Kim Le Court making a strong impression. Le Court, who belongs to the AG Insurance–Soudal team, has already worn the coveted yellow jersey after a tie-breaker victory on stage 2, matching the performance of stage 1 winner Marianne Vos.

Le Court's impressive form this season is undeniable. She has added a stage win in the Tour of Britain to her resume, along with a victory in the Giro d'Italia Women's best climber classification. Her latest achievement, the yellow jersey, marks a historic moment as she becomes the first non-European, African, and Mauritian rider to wear the iconic jersey in the rebooted Tour de France Femmes.

Team-mate Sarah Gigante is another GC prospect for AG Insurance–Soudal, fresh from her third place overall finish at the Giro d'Italia Women and two mountain top stage wins. Gigante, who is still developing her bunch skills after facing career interruptions, currently sits within the top 20, just 39 seconds down on Le Court. Gigante finished an impressive seventh overall on her Tour de France Femmes debut in 2024.

As the race progresses, the team is excited to see what Gigante can achieve in the Tour de France Femmes. Team sports director Jolien D'Hoore stated, "But we've just got to take it day by day and right now, it's day two, and she has yellow and it's pretty remarkable for us as a team, but also for Kim."

The team worked for Le Court on day 2, but also placed a rider next to Gigante to help her. As the race moves forward, the team's strategy may need to adapt to help Gigante improve her position in the race.

The next two days bring two expected sprint stages, providing an opportunity for the sprinters to shine. However, the biggest test of all comes on stage 8, with the challenging Col de la Madeleine looming. D'Hoore, who is optimistic about Le Court's performance, believes that her training at altitude camp will help her perform well in the Tour de France Femmes.

In a statement, Le Court expressed her ambition, saying, "It's a goal that we have with the team and with myself to achieve to wear yellow ... but to achieve that is extremely special and I want to try and keep growing African cycling."

As the Tour de France Femmes continues, the AG Insurance–Soudal team is poised for a strong showing, with both Le Court and Gigante presenting formidable challenges to their competitors. The race promises to be an exciting spectacle, with the two riders aiming to make history and continue the team's impressive run.
