Design Advisory Board Chair, holding position for a prolonged period, is terminated from duty

The Design Advisory Board of Halle (Saale) is set to meet on Monday, September 8, 2025, in the Armory Hall of the Town Hall, Marktplatz 2. This meeting marks a significant moment as two long-serving chairs, Barbara Engel and Suanne Wartzeck, bid farewell after more than two decades of dedicated service.

The Design Advisory Board, an independent expert committee, has been actively evaluating construction projects and urban planning in Halle (Saale) since 2001. This esteemed panel of professionals has been instrumental in shaping the city's architectural landscape, promoting building culture, and preserving the image of Halle (Saale).

Barbara Engel, an architect and professor, and Suanne Wartzeck, the president of the Association of German Architects, have provided invaluable insights and recommendations to the Mayor, City Council, and administration, supporting them with architecturally and design-wise significant projects.

At this meeting, the only public agenda item will be a discussion on the city's planned expansion of the Christian-Wolf-Gymnasium on the "Education Campus Neustadt". The public discussion will take place from 11:00 to 11:45.

As the Design Advisory Board bids farewell to its long-serving chairs, it also welcomes a new chair. Architect Marko Goehre, a design expert, will take over the reins on September 8, 2025. Goehre's appointment is expected to bring fresh perspectives and ideas to the board, as it continues to play a crucial role in promoting building culture and preserving the image of Halle (Saale).

The Design Advisory Board meeting on September 8 will be the third of the year. The meeting is open to the public, and all are encouraged to attend and participate in the discussion on the city's planned expansion of the Christian-Wolf-Gymnasium.
