Wiesbaden's Elevator Remains Operational During Repairs, Despite Vandalism Incident

A popular elevator in Wiesbaden, providing a direct, barrier-free connection between the Kransand area on the Rhine and the traffic hub at the Mainz-Kastel Bridgehead, remains operational despite undergoing repairs. The repair work, however, is not related to the elevator itself but rather the damaged automatic doors.

Unfortunately, vandalism occurred at the specified location in June, causing significant damage estimated to be around 6,000 euros. Despite this, the responsible institution for the repair of the damaged elevator, Deutsche Bahn, confirmed that the elevator is not responsible for the repair costs related to the vandalism.

The automatic doors at the location were severely damaged and are currently under repair, with the expected completion time being around twelve weeks. The good news is that the operation of the elevator is not affected by the repair of the automatic doors, as they are separate systems.

The elevator, installed in August 2024, offers a significant advantage to passengers boarding and disembarking at the Mainz-Kastel Bridgehead, particularly for mobility-impaired individuals. It's worth noting that the elevator is not located within the area damaged by vandalism.

For more information about this incident, please contact the Press Office of the State Capital Wiesbaden at Schlossplatz 6, 65183 Wiesbaden, or visit their website at www.wiesbaden.de/pressereferat. The Press Office issued the press release regarding the vandalism incident.

Despite the recent vandalism, the elevator continues to serve its purpose efficiently, connecting the Kransand area and the Mainz-Kastel Bridgehead. The repair work is progressing, and the public can expect the automatic doors to be back in service soon.
