Destruction Haven: Wrecking items never brought greater satisfaction

In the heart of Dhaka, a unique space has emerged, offering a judgement-free zone for people to express their anger and frustration in a healthy and controlled manner. This is none other than The Rage House, a local adaptation of the global trend of Rage Houses, also known as rage rooms or smash rooms.

The concept of Rage Houses originated around the year 2000 in Japan, and since then, it has gained popularity as a unique form of entertainment and stress relief. With locations spreading across North America, Canada, Europe, and now Bangladesh, Rage Houses provide a cathartic experience as the sensation of impact and destruction releases stress physically.

The Rage House in Bangladesh was inspired by a video shown at a dinner party, and it was launched on 18 July this year, still in its trial phase but making waves. Founded by two friends, Farhan and Zubair, the Rage House currently has three soundproof, air-conditioned rooms, decorated with colorful, punk-inspired graffiti and bright neon lights.

Safety rules are enforced at The Rage House. Participants must be aged 16 or above, no alcohol or drugs are allowed, and no personal items can be brought in for smashing. All participants must wear safety gear, including a full-body protective suit, helmet, thick face shield, safety goggles, gloves, boots, noise-cancelling headphones, and safety gear. Trained safety officers are on site to provide immediate first-aid support in case of any injury.

The Rage House offers a variety of package options. For Tk600, one person can enjoy a session, while a two-person package costs Tk1,099, and a three-person package costs Tk1,600. Additional charges apply for more than three people. Customers pay for specific sessions based on duration and the quantity of items they want to smash. Breakable items are mostly collected from local scrap dealers.

The Rage House provides more than just stress relief, delivering a unique and exciting experience. It offers a space where destruction can lead to healing, whether for venting frustration, trying something different, or simply breaking things for fun. In its first 10 days, The Rage House has received an overwhelming response, with many customers returning multiple times and bringing friends or family.

Rage Houses are soundproof, ensuring that no one outside can hear the noise made during the destruction of objects. This controlled setting allows people to scream, smash, and destroy without guilt or judgement, helping to reduce stress and cortisol levels in the body.

By providing a safe and controlled environment for people to express their anger and frustration, The Rage House contributes to popularizing rage rooms in South Asia, where the concept is relatively new. It helps to spread awareness about alternative methods for managing stress and anger, adding to the growing adoption of this trend globally.

At The Rage House, you can experience a variety of lifestyle activities, including fashion-and-beauty sessions, food-and-drink experiences, and even pets to play with during your downtime. After a day of excitement, unwind in the comfort of home-and-garden inspired rooms.

For travelers visiting Dhaka, this unique location is worth a stop, especially if you're looking for an unconventional way to explore the city. And if you're a car enthusiast, you can indulge in education-and-self-development classes for better driving skills or shop for upgrades at local auto stores nearby.

If you prefer indoor activities, try your luck at the casino-and-gambling establishments or spend hours browsing the local shopping malls. For sports fans, catch a game or participate in community sports programs.

But when the city's hustle-and-bustle becomes too much, escape to The Rage House for a relaxing break. Experience the weather changes from anger to catharsis as you release stress and frustration in one of their soundproof rooms. Whether it's relationships or work-related problems that have you feeling overwhelmed, The Rage House provides a judgement-free zone for anyone seeking relief.
