Details for determining the extent of financial assistance:
On the evening of July 2nd, 2025, a passenger ship on the Main-Danube Canal near FĂźrth-OberfĂźrberg came into contact with a pedestrian bridge named 'FĂźrberger Steg'. The incident occurred at approximately 22:10.
Officers from the FĂźrth Police Station were on the scene, and they temporarily closed the canal to shipping. The ship sustained damage to its upper deck, with initial estimates putting the damage at a low five-figure amount. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.
Around 70 emergency services personnel, including firefighters, water rescue teams, and the technical relief agency, checked the full count of approximately 80 passengers and 40 crew members. The pedestrian bridge 'FĂźrberger Steg' also sustained damage, estimated at several tens of thousands of euros. As of now, the bridge's stability is not compromised, but a follow-up inspection will be conducted the next day.
The passenger ship was able to continue its journey, and the Main-Danube Canal was reopened to shipping at 00:05. The investigation of this incident is the responsibility of the German Federal Bureau of Maritime Casualty Investigation (Bundesstelle fĂźr Seeunfalluntersuchung, BSU).
