In the early hours of September 6th, a shocking traffic accident took place in the area of Hauptstraße, Witten. The incident, which left two female passengers severely injured, was the result of a high-speed chase that began in Bochum-Langendreer.

According to reports, the police attempted to stop a vehicle in the Unterstraße area around 3:30 AM, but the driver, a 16-year-old from Bochum, ignored the stop signals and fled. The vehicle, which was discovered to be stolen from Bochum city center between September 4th and 5th, had its license plates swapped and replaced with stolen ones from Bochum-Langendreer.

As the chase continued, the driver recklessly drove through Bochum and Witten, disregarding red lights and driving at significantly excessive speeds. The vehicle was eventually involved in a collision in Witten, resulting in the hospitalisation of two female passengers, aged 14 and 18, from Dortmund. Fortunately, the driver remained uninjured.

Upon arrest, an alcohol test revealed a reading of 0.42 percent for the driver. This alarming level of intoxication is believed to have contributed to the severity of the accident. The driver now faces a comprehensive criminal complaint, including charges of car theft, driving without a license, and endangering traffic.

The two passengers from Bochum, aged 16 and 20, sustained minor injuries. The estimated property damage from the accident is over 20,000 euros. The vehicle was impounded as it was no longer roadworthy.
