Devastating result: Düsseldorf EC suffers defeat by 3-6 against Iserlohn Roosters
In a hard-fought battle, the Iserlohn Roosters emerged victorious against a struggling Düsseldorf team, securing a 3-6 win in a crucial match.
The Roosters got off to a strong start, scoring two early goals in the first period. Taro Jentzsch opened the scoring with a close-range effort, before Christian Thomas capitalised on a rebound opportunity to make it 0-2.
Düsseldorf's defense was non-existent throughout the game, a fact that was evident as the Roosters continued to find gaps in their backline. Tyler Boland scored a power play goal to extend their lead to 3-0, before Shane Gersich capitalised on a simple breakaway to make it 4-0.
Henrik Haukeland, the goalkeeper for Düsseldorf, was kept busy throughout the game, but could do little to prevent Iserlohn Roosters from scoring their sixth goal through Boland in the second period.
Düsseldorf did manage to pull two goals back through Brendan O'Donnell, assisted by Gaudet, and an unexpected effort from Laurin Braun in the final moments of the game. However, it was too little, too late, as the Roosters held on for a crucial victory.
The defeat means that Düsseldorf are back at the bottom of the table, having lost two games in a row and conceding 16 goals in the process. They will be hoping to bounce back when they face Cologne in their next game on Sunday at 4:30 PM.
Meanwhile, the Roosters will be delighted with their performance and the three points they have earned. They will be looking to build on this result and continue their push for a playoff spot in the second German ice hockey league (DEL2).
