Bayern Munich is gearing up for an exciting start to the 2022/23 season, with the Bundesliga opener against Bayer Leverkusen scheduled for September 6th at the Allianz Arena. The Allianz Arena will play host to the first competitive match of the season for Bayern, as they look to defend their title.

However, the squad will be without DFB captain Giulia Gwinn, who is still in rehab and recovering from an injury to the inner band of her left knee. Gwinn suffered this injury during the opening match of the European Championship for the German team against Poland on July 4th.

Lena Oberdorf, another key player for Bayern, is also making a comeback after tearing her cruciate ligament in July 2021. While she has made progress, she is not expected to start at full speed. The workload of Lena Oberdorf is being managed carefully, as she gradually returns to full fitness. New Bayern coach José Barcala expects Oberdorf to play an important role for the team in the coming months.

Oberdorf has recently made her first appearances in test matches for FC Bayern, signalling her progress towards full recovery. Meanwhile, Magdalena Eriksson, who was recovering from a midfoot fracture sustained in December 2023, is expected to be available late in the season.

In other news, Bayern director Bianca Rech announced that Giulia Gwinn is making progress in her rehab but is not quite at 110 percent yet. As a result, Gwinn will miss FC Bayern's first competitive match of the season against VfL Wolfsburg.

The Supercup clash between Bayern and VfL Wolfsburg is a rematch of last season's runners-up. The match will take place on August 30th at the Wildpark Stadium in Karlsruhe. No further information about the participation of other players in the match is provided at this time.

In addition to the Supercup and Bundesliga fixtures, Bayern will also face Real Madrid in a friendly match on Thursday at 4:00 PM. This will provide an opportunity for the team to test their mettle against one of Europe's top clubs.

Despite the injuries and absences, Bayern's squad planning is complete, with no new signings or departures. The team is looking forward to the challenges ahead and is determined to defend their titles in both the Bundesliga and Supercup.
