DFB Manager Rettig acknowledges 0-2 result leaves behind clear indications
The German national football team, coached by Julian Nagelsmann, is set to face Northern Ireland in a World Cup qualifier this weekend, following a disappointing 0:2 loss to Slovakia in their previous match. The game, scheduled for Sunday at 20:45 CET, will take place in Cologne and will be broadcast on RTL.
In the aftermath of the defeat, DFB CEO Andreas Rettig believes the team needs to draw the right conclusions and has promised a clear performance improvement for the next game. Rettig stated that the team has been criticized and was self-critical after the loss, with coach Rudi VΓΆller finding the right words to address the team.
The goal of finishing first in Group A is still possible, and Rettig emphasized that the main focus is to win on Sunday. He did not commit to whether there will be youth players in the A-team for the next summer's World Cup, but he did state that the team will give everything to show a different face on Sunday.
Rettig made his comments on ProSieben Maxx and expressed that the loss had a significant impact on the team. The decision for first place could be made in the last game against Slovakia on 17 November in Leipzig.
Meanwhile, the German U21 international was taking place in Albania during the discussion. Rettig did not provide specific details about the youth players who might be called up for the World Cup.
The game against Northern Ireland is part of the World Cup qualifiers, and the team will be eager to bounce back from their recent defeat and secure a crucial victory.
