WestLotto Modernizes Lottery Outlets in North Rhine-Westphalia

WestLotto, the German lottery company, has been actively pursuing digitalization to modernize lottery sales in North Rhine-Westphalia. By the end of 2026, all lottery outlets in the region are set to be equipped with a new store design program, which will include the deployment of over 3,000 new lottery terminals.

Last year, WestLotto entered into a cooperation with Lotto Rheinland-Pfalz to support the modernization of lottery outlets with new terminals. This collaboration is expected to continue in North Rhine-Westphalia, with the help of technology company Scientific Games.

The new terminals will primarily consist of tablets that serve as self-service terminals for digitally filling out and printing lottery tickets. These tablets will be modernized and adapted to the new store design program of the lottery provider.

Biometric facial recognition for staff is also available, allowing for quicker identification of players when submitting tickets. This technology is designed to enhance security and improve the user experience.

Digital solutions, according to WestLotto sales chief Andreas Schmidt, aim to make work more efficient and successful for contract partners. The company also plans to introduce additional postal and cash services, daily essential products, and new recruitment tools in lottery branches.

Receipts can be issued digitally on request, in addition to paper form, and the digital reading of game tickets is possible with the tablets.

The core theme at the WestLotto XPO 2025, held at the event hall THE FRAME in Düsseldorf, was the optimization of the player experience through new digital developments. Over 1,500 contract partners of WestLotto were invited to the event, where they were given a glimpse of the company's digital future plans.

WestLotto CEO Andreas Kötter highlighted the importance of digitalization and the need to digitize processes in local outlets. He emphasized good cooperation with its contract partners during the XPO 2025.

For the latest verified details, we recommend checking WestLotto's official press releases or the North Rhine-Westphalia lottery authority's announcements directly.

Online casinos in Germany, such as those offered by WestLotto, are leveraging technology to modernize casino-and-gambling experiences. This is evidenced by the deployment of new tablets at lottery outlets in North Rhine-Westphalia, which serve as self-service terminals for filling out and printing lottery tickets, all part of WestLotto's digitalization strategy to enhance user experience and security.
