Discussion unveils impending concerns during the second Invest BW funding appeal

Baden-Württemberg, a leading health region, is aiming to address the challenges of climate change, changing eating habits, and the increasing demand for healthy, sustainable food. The Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Tourism has announced the second call for proposals of the fourth phase of Invest BW, a funding initiative that provides a sum of 30 million euros for innovative project ideas.

The call for proposals focuses on two major thematic areas: medical innovations, health data usage, new food production, and materials, resources, GreenTech, Bioeconomy, and innovation. The funding is intended to cover both technical and non-technical innovations, as well as new business models, process, and service innovations.

Eligible applicants for the Invest BW funding call include companies of any size, start-ups, and research institutions. Companies with a seat, branch, or establishment in Baden-Württemberg (or intending to establish one there as part of the project), as well as universities, university institutions, and non-university research institutions in Baden-Württemberg (only for collaborative projects), can apply until October 10, 2025, 1 pm.

Submitted projects will be evaluated based on established funding criteria and competitive aspects. The selection of the thematic areas is oriented towards the future visions of the impulse paper of the technology commissioner of the economics minister, Prof. Dr. Katharina Höhlzle.

Funding applications can be submitted to VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH via the Invest BW website from August 20, 2025. Further details and information on the application process, selection and evaluation of applications, the funding call, and the administrative guidelines of the Ministry of Economics can be found online.

A web seminar on the funding call and application process will take place on September 18, 2025, at 10:00 AM. Registration is possible online. It's worth noting that the third Invest BW call for proposals is planned for the end of 2025, with the theme "Mobility and Transport" in focus.

The Ministry of Economics, Labour and Tourism offers an email contact for the press office and a contact form for citizens for any queries or additional information. This initiative underscores Baden-Württemberg's commitment to fostering innovation and sustainable development in various sectors.
