Disregarded Traffic Signal by Motorist

In the early hours of August 25, a traffic accident occurred at the intersection of Kessenicher Straße and Jülicher Ring in Euskirchen. The District Police Authority Euskirchen responded to the incident, which took place at 6 a.m.

The 72-year-old driver from the Rhein-Erft district was driving along the Jülicher Ring towards Kölner Straße, while the 59-year-old driver from Euskirchen was driving along Kessenicher Straße towards Kessenich. Tragically, the accident occurred when the older driver ignored a red light, colliding with the other driver who was approaching from the right.

As a result of the collision, both drivers were injured and required hospital treatment. The 59-year-old driver needed to be extricated from her vehicle by the fire department. The intersection was closed until 8:55 AM to allow emergency services to attend to the scene.

The police traffic accident team from Euskirchen took the report and are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident. We send our best wishes to both drivers for a speedy recovery.
