"Documentary Released on the Final Days of Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser"
The much-anticipated documentary "Halcyon Daze" is set to submit to film festivals this fall. Directed by Robert Lynn and Carrie Coaplen, the film focuses on the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, a now-ended hotel experience that operated for 19 months before it was shuttered.
Disney made Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Star Wars canon and a key location for several in-universe events. The immersive experience, which ranged in ticket prices from $4,800 to over $6,000, aimed to offer guests a chance to live out their Star Wars fantasies in a fully-realised Star Wars setting.
"Halcyon Daze" will delve into the ambitious launch, spectacular run, and crushing closure of Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. The documentary will cover the tension between the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser as a "ridiculous and ridiculously expensive failure" and as a beloved community. It will include testimonials from artists, cast, crew, and fans of the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser.
One intriguing theory that the documentary may explore is the possibility that Ben Solo, a prominent character in the Star Wars universe, may have been conceived at Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser.
Carly Kocurek, the initiator of the project, launched a Kickstarter for "Halcyon Daze" and has raised $19,121 as of the time of writing. The crew is currently working on a rough cut of the documentary. However, the team needs help for the last, crucial stage of the project.
If you're a fan of Star Wars or simply interested in the behind-the-scenes of a unique and ambitious project, be sure to keep an eye out for "Halcyon Daze" at film festivals this fall.
