In a remarkable cultural exchange, Vietnamese actress Đặng Thụy Mỹ Uyên will be making her debut in the South Korean historical musical "General Jang Han Sang". This grand outdoor art project, based on the true story of General Jang Han Sang during Korea's 17th-century development, promises a unique blend of modern theatrical techniques, folk music from the Uiseong region, and classical musical theatre arts.
The collaboration between Đặng Thụy Mỹ Uyên and General Jang Han Sang arose from a cultural exchange agreement between the Busan Theatre Association and the Hồ Chí Minh City Theatre Association, signed in 2024. Đặng Thụy Mỹ Uyên will be playing the role of Madam Jang Han Sang, the devoted wife bidding farewell to her husband as he leaves to defend the nation's borders.
South Korean director Lee Jung Nam, president of the Busan Theatre Association and author and chief director of General Jang Han Sang, noticed Đặng Thụy Mỹ Uyên's talent during a performance exchange in April 2025. Impressed by her acting skills, he chose her for the role, marking a continuation of an artistic connection.

Đặng Thụy Mỹ Uyên, who currently serves as the director of 5B Small Theatre, has over 30 years of artistic experience and has taken on a hundred roles on stage as well as in various film productions. Her performance in Chapter 7 of the musical is highlighted in a dramatic farewell scene with emotional singing.

Đặng Thụy Mỹ Uyên was awarded the title of Outstanding Artist in 2012 and honoured with the title of Meritorious Artist in 2023 by the State. Her participation in the musical is a testament to her strong acting skills and dedication to her craft.
The venue features a special stage designed on the water, incorporating 3D projection technology in collaboration with La Maison Productions (France). It promises to be a spectacular event, showcasing the best of both Korean and Vietnamese cultures.
