Draw Result: Rangers and Celtic End in Scoreless Stalemate in Subdued Derby Encounter

Celtic and Rangers Play Out Scoreless Draw in Scottish Premiership

In a closely contested match at Ibrox, Celtic and Rangers ended their encounter in a 0-0 stalemate, marking a significant milestone for both teams. This was Celtic's first point drop in the Scottish Premiership season and the first time they have failed to win the opening clash against Rangers in the Premiership for only the third time in the last 10 seasons.

For Rangers, this result continues a challenging start to their campaign, as they have now failed to win five successive top-flight games for the first time since December 2005. Rangers' new boss, Russell Martin, may find himself under increased pressure following this result.

The match was generally low-key, with few notable incidents. John Souttar's goal for Rangers in the 31st minute was disallowed due to offside following a VAR review. Neither team could generate a significant attacking threat during the match, as the accumulative expected goals (xG) for the match were a modest 0.32, with 0.15 for Rangers and 0.17 for Celtic.

Both Celtic and Rangers were seeking a positive response after missing out on Champions League qualification following defeats in the play-off round earlier this week. Unfortunately for the fans, the Glasgow derby did not produce the goals they were hoping for.

This draw marks a rare occasion in both teams' histories. For Celtic, it is the fourth time in the last 10 seasons they have failed to win the opening clash against Rangers in the Premiership. Meanwhile, Rangers have opened a Premiership campaign with four winless matches for only the fourth time in their history, previously occurring in 1964-65, 1978-79, and 1983-84.

The Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers, experienced his first defeat in the current Scottish Premiership season, while Rangers' struggles continue under their new management. As the season progresses, both teams will be eager to find their form and challenge for the Premiership title.
