The King Lewanika Lodge, nestled within the expansive 336,000 hectares of Liuwa Plain National Park in western Zambia, has recently been reopened by Ker & Downey Zambia. This lodge offers a unique African safari experience, blending traditional game drives with a variety of unconventional activities.

Located in one of the world's most significant wildlife sanctuaries, the lodge provides guests with a chance to witness the second-largest wildebeest migration in Africa and over 300 bird species. The lodge's six safari tents, including one family unit, offer a comfortable base for exploring this stunning wilderness.

The lodge's game vehicles offer a unique, elevated perspective of the Liuwa Plain from specially designed seating positions. These vehicles are equipped with rooftop game viewing seats, adjustable armrests, photography bean bags, USB charging points, and LED lighting, ensuring a comfortable and productive safari experience.

In addition to traditional game drives, guests can enjoy yoga, art safaris, night drives for nocturnal wildlife viewing, and bush cinema screenings. An unusual addition to the African safari programming is the drive-through ice cream stops, providing a sweet treat amidst the adventure.

The lodge's dining experiences are positioned within the grassland setting, offering a truly immersive experience. The lodge operates on solar energy, minimising its environmental impact. Useful amenities introduced during the refurbishment include fridges and coffee stations in each tent, and radio communication systems allowing guests to request refreshments and snacks without leaving their accommodation.

The lodge also boasts a redesigned central lounge area and a water filtration system that eliminates the need for plastic bottles, further demonstrating its commitment to sustainability.

Rates for a three-night stay at King Lewanika Lodge begin at US$3,615 per person. For those seeking a unique and unforgettable African safari experience, King Lewanika Lodge promises an adventure like no other. However, the names of the persons who have taken over the lodge under the leadership of Ker & Downey Zambia are not currently available.
