Drive-by shooting at a Bronx deli results in one fatality and four injuries, adding to the recent violence in the borough
In a shocking incident, a drive-by shooting occurred outside a deli at 686 Allerton Ave in the Bronx, New York, on Monday night. The shooting resulted in five people being wounded, including one fatally.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers found a 25-year-old man who had been shot multiple times. Tragically, he was pronounced dead at Jacobi Hospital, where his identity remains undisclosed, pending family notification.
Four other victims were also taken to Jacobi Hospital in stable condition. They include a 21-year-old man who was wounded in the arm, a 27-year-old man who suffered a graze wound to the leg, a 25-year-old male who sustained a gunshot wound to the arm, and a 27-year-old man who was shot in the left foot.
The unidentified shooter fired from a passing vehicle. The vehicle involved in the shooting later crashed at the corner of Arnow and Hone Avenues, nearly 3/4 of a mile away.
Five other individuals were taken into custody as a result of the shooting, which is believed to be gang-related.
This incident is less than two weeks after another violent episode at Haffen Park basketball court on Aug. 23, where five people were shot, leaving one dead and an innocent teen girl in critical condition.
Last week, Mayor Eric Adams pledged to flood the Bronx with 1,000 more cops and called for a mediation between gang members, in an effort to curb the rising violence in the area.
Three guns were recovered at the scene of the shooting. The 49th Precinct is currently investigating the incident.
Our thoughts are with the victims and their families during this difficult time.
