Driver deliberately drives wife across busy road intersection
Yesterday afternoon, a traffic accident occurred on Schnellerstraße towards Fennstraße in Niederschoeneweide. The accident, which took place just past Rudower Straße, resulted in the closure of the road.
The incident involved a 74-year-old man driving a VW with license plate number XYZ123. According to reports, the man's vehicle sustained significant front-end damage. The pedestrian, a 20-year-old individual, was crossing from left to right at a pedestrian crossing.
The pedestrian was not using a crosswalk at the time of the accident and was wearing headphones. As a result, the pedestrian was thrown to the ground and sustained head injuries. The pedestrian was initially listed in critical condition but has since stabilised.
The investigation has revealed that the pedestrian had the right of way, and the 74-year-old man was issued a traffic violation for failing to yield to a pedestrian. The traffic accident occurred at approximately 3:15 PM, and emergency services transported the pedestrian to a hospital for further treatment.
The investigation is being handled by a specialized traffic crime unit from Police Directorate 3 (East), and the traffic accident reconstruction team is examining the scene for further evidence.
Unfortunately, the news takes a sombre turn as we report that the names of two accident victims have been released. Jonas T. and Amaya N. died in a severe boat accident on Lake Zurich near Altendorf, Switzerland. Our thoughts are with their families and loved ones during this difficult time.
We will continue to update this story as more information becomes available. Stay safe on the roads, and remember to always yield to pedestrians.
