In an operation on Lessing Street, a police dog named Harry from the Duisburg Police Presidency was deployed to assist officers in their search. Harry, a specialist in drug-sniffing, was tasked with searching a cluttered courtyard for potential drug caches.

Harry's keen nose led him to a significant discovery amidst the rubble and old electronics: a drug cache consisting of additional cannabis. The Dortmund resident, who now faces criminal charges for illegal drug trafficking, was not a new name to the authorities, but the specific timing of the charges remains undisclosed.

Upon finding the drugs, Harry's handler expressed great pleasure with the discovery. The Dortmund resident was questioned by the police and subsequently released from the scene after the completion of procedures. There were no special circumstances warranting pretrial detention for the resident.

Residents in the area had previously alleged that a backyard on Lessing Street was being used as a drug storage facility. The successful operation serves as a testament to the effectiveness of police dogs like Harry in the fight against illegal drug trafficking. Harry was later rewarded for his successful search, further emphasising the crucial role these animals play in law enforcement.
