Dubai-based trucking platform, Trukkin, expands operations to Pakistan, establishing a marketplace for transport services.
The Pakistani transportation industry, valued at over $35 billion and growing at a CAGR of over 18 percent since 2017, is about to witness a significant change. Dubai-based logistics startup, Trukkin, is expanding its operations to Pakistan, marking the beginning of a movement to revolutionize the industry.
Trukkin, founded by Janardan Dalmia in the United Arab Emirates in 2017, has previously raised $3.5 million in a Series A round. The startup's platform enables shippers to receive instant quotes, track shipments in real-time, and receive confirmation and proof of delivery documents. It primarily focuses on heavy cargo or long-haul trucking, connecting shippers and truckers for logistics needs.
Inefficiencies in Pakistan's transportation sector cost the economy nearly PKR 500 billion (approximately $3 billion) annually, according to World Bank information. The entry of Trukkin into the market is timely, as it aims to empower everyone involved in the transportation business using technology to replace archaic systems. The goal is to reduce transportation timelines, associated costs, and increase profits for all parties involved.

Initially, Trukkin will start operations in Karachi, with plans to expand to other cities including Lahore. The startup offers various vehicle types like trailers, pick-up trucks, flatbed trucks, and box trailers through its platform.
Another UAE-based trucking marketplace, Lorryz, has also been operating in Pakistan since last year. This competition is expected to drive innovation and efficiency in the Pakistani transportation sector.
In addition to building Trukkin, Janardan Dalmia is also the CEO of the venture. He has stated that the startup's launch in Pakistan is a significant step towards revolutionizing the transportation industry.
Paracha is also building Qraar, a career discovery and development platform for millennials in MENA. His work in reporting on and promoting innovative startups like Trukkin is a testament to his commitment to fostering technological advancement in the region.
As Trukkin prepares to launch in Pakistan, the transportation industry stands on the brink of a digital transformation. The startup's entry into the market is a promising development for a sector that has long been plagued by inefficiencies. With its focus on technology and innovation, Trukkin is poised to bring about a much-needed change in the Pakistani transportation industry.
