E.ON and Retail Match expand charging network for electric vehicles
In a significant move towards sustainable mobility and future-proof retail properties, Retail Match GmbH, a subsidiary of the ILG Group, and E.ON Drive Infrastructure have joined forces to expand the availability of electric vehicle charging points on retail property parking lots across the nation.
This collaboration aims to initially install around 350 charging points, with an option for an additional 150, making a potential total of 500 charging stations. These charging stations will be operated by Wirelane, a leading provider and operator of public AC charging points in Germany, which recently acquired LadegrΓΌn, known for sustainable charging infrastructure powered by 100% certified green electricity.
The charging infrastructure, when integrated directly on the parking lots, creates real added value for customers and tenants. It aligns with Retail Match GmbH's goal of being an active shaper of future-proof retail properties. Dominic Barg, Retail Match's authorized officer, states that the combination of comfortable shopping and electric vehicle charging benefits both customers and tenants.
The charging stations will be user-friendly and equipped with state-of-the-art technology. They will be integrated into Retail Match's sustainability strategy, contributing to the operators' sustainability goals and the clean mobility of the retail locations. By integrating charging infrastructure directly on the parking lots, Retail Match GmbH meets the demand of 61% of electric vehicle drivers for charging infrastructure at supermarkets.
E.ON Drive Infrastructure is responsible for the planning, installation, operation, and billing of the charging infrastructure. This concept offers an additional incentive for operators of supermarkets using Retail Match's properties, enhancing the site's attractiveness for both customers and tenants.
The deployment of charging stations also helps retail tenants to achieve their own sustainability goals. Retail Match GmbH manages over 150 retail properties nationwide, and this collaboration is expected to make a significant impact on the availability of electric vehicle charging points in retail parking lots, promoting clean mobility and the attractiveness of retail locations.
