Ean Cajucom decides the final placement of 99 cyclists in the mass finish of the Tour of Luzon in La Union.
Ahmad Syazrin Finishes Second in Stage 3 of the 2025 Tour of Luzon
In a thrilling finish under the scorching heat of San Juan, La Union, Ean Cajucom of Marikina City emerged victorious in Stage 3 of the 2025 Tour of Luzon. The 130-kilometer race, which took place on April 26, was led by an eight-man lead pack that included Joo, Junreck Carcueva of MPT DriveHub, Daryl Dulatre of Exodus Army, and Ahmad Syazrin Awang Ilah of Malaysia Pro Cycling.
Despite finishing second, Ahmad Syazrin's performance marked a significant milestone for Victoria Sports, as it was the first time a cyclist from the team had finished on the podium in this year's tour. The time for Stage 3 was 2 hours, 51 minutes, and 42 seconds.
Meanwhile, the individual GC lead remains undisputedly with Gapyeong Cycling's captain, who finished 76th in the Stage 3 finish. Despite this, his huge four-minute lead from Stage 1 remains unchallenged, as no one came remotely close to threatening his position.
The team strategy for Stage 3 was to treat it like a one-day race, according to Ean Cajucom. However, the team felt they made mistakes in Stage 1 and let the overall lead slip away, which influenced their strategy for the next stages.
Standard Insurance Philippines keeps a slight edge in the team GC, just 19 seconds in front of MPT DriveHub. As of April 27, 2025, the team currently leading the Team General Classification (GC) in the 2025 Tour of Luzon has not been publicly disclosed.
The race resumes on April 27, with Stage 4 offering 163.76 kilometers of racing from Agoo, La Union to Filinvest Mimosa in Clark, Pampanga, starting at 8 am. The individual GC winner is set to win P500,000, while the team GC kings will share a P1 million bounty at the end of all eight stages by Thursday, May 1, in Baguio City.
The previous stages of the tour were held in Paoay, Ilocos Norte, and Vigan, Ilocos Sur. In a surprising turn of events, the 91-man peloton eventually swallowed the leaders whole despite having a nearly two-minute gap from the rest, as the route narrowed in Bacnotan, La Union within the last five kilometers. Poul Aquino of DReyna Orion Cement finished third in Stage 3.
The 2025 Tour of Luzon continues to captivate audiences with its exciting races and unexpected twists. Stay tuned for more updates as the competition heats up!
