Easing of restrictions proposed by Saxony's Prime Minister for February
Saxon Minister President Michael Kretschmer (CDU) has expressed concerns about the delay in providing economic aid to businesses that have been closed for nearly two months, particularly hairdressing salons and retail stores.
In a statement, Kretschmer urged for a swift resolution, emphasizing the financial strain these businesses are under. He also suggested defining a "red line" or a clear incidence value, at which light easements must be withdrawn to prevent a resurgence of the virus.
Kretschmer also warned against repeatedly falling back into a lockdown, emphasizing the need for careful and considered decisions when easing restrictions. He proposed a strategy to avoid this, stating that actions should not be taken carelessly or hastily.
Looking ahead, Kretschmer announced that measures will be reviewed every two to three weeks, with the infection situation to be reassessed in three weeks' time. However, he expressed opposition to further-reaching relaxations at this time.
In a positive note, Kretschmer is advocating for certain easements in February, particularly for daycare centres and primary schools.
Meanwhile, there is no information available about who is responsible for the "sister of Corona clarification" in the district of MeiΓen.
Despite the ongoing challenges, Kretschmer's statement has been considered justified, reflecting the concerns of many who are waiting for economic aid payments, with no payments for economic aid III having been made yet.
Kretschmer's calls for caution and careful consideration in easing restrictions come as Germany navigates its way through the ongoing pandemic, balancing the need to protect public health with the need to support businesses and individuals.
