Eco-festival ORTA FEST takes place in Astana

In the heart of the capital, the annual ORTA FEST-Eko-Festspiele took place this June, filling Central Park with a vibrant celebration of sustainability and conscious consumption.

The festival, now in its fifth year, began with the installation of the towering ORTA letters, standing over two meters high near the iconic "City Clock" installation. Maira Izmailova, the festival's producer, noted that the goal was to fill these letters to the brim with plastic bottles and textiles, showcasing that used materials are a valuable resource.

This year, ORTA FEST introduced an Eco-Art Alley, showcasing artistic objects created from secondary and eco-friendly materials. Visitors were invited to contribute to this artistic display by filling the letters with their own recyclable materials.

The festival was divided into 10 thematic zones, each symbolizing important urban values, including sustainable development, creativity, and inclusivity. One of the highlights was the EcoHuman competition, where eight participants were awarded 150,000 tenge each for creating impressive installations from used materials.

A giant cat made from recycled materials, created by the FUNK agency team, became a popular photo zone at Central Park during ORTA FEST. The Eco-Con costume parade was another highlight, featuring flower fairies distributing petals and shamans giving predictions and good wishes.

Over 30 city communities, representatives of active longevity centers, and youth organizations attended the festival, underscoring the widespread support for eco-friendly living. ORTA FEST continues to invite residents and guests of the capital to join in creating a more sustainable future.

The main goal of the ORTA FEST remains to popularize an eco-friendly lifestyle and develop the culture of conscious consumption. By showcasing the potential of recyclable materials and encouraging active participation, the festival is making strides towards a greener future for the capital.
