Eileen Wallace Zaledonis, a beloved educator, community member, and friend, passed away on August 22, 2025. She was 85 years old.

Born to Dawson and Miriam Wallace, Eileen grew up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She attended Gettysburg College, where she majored in French, and later studied abroad in France. Eileen continued her education, earning a master's degree in French from Middlebury College and a master's degree in Education from Millersville University.

Before joining Lititz Elementary School as a reading specialist, Eileen taught French. Her passion for education extended beyond the classroom as she mentored future educators as a supervisor for the Millersville University Reading Clinic program for graduate students.

Eileen spent 20 years at Lititz Elementary School, becoming a cherished member of the Lititz community. Beyond the classroom, she served as an adjunct professor in the B.E.S.T. Clinic master's program, a board member of Lancaster Dollars for Higher Learning, and an officer for the Lancaster - Lebanon Reading Council.

Eileen was known for her wit and active social life, with many circles of friends. She was also a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Coterie group.

In her personal life, Eileen enjoyed daily walks and had a lifelong love of reading. In her younger years, she sewed her daughters' clothes, canned local produce, and delivered Meals on Wheels. Spending time with her grandchildren was one of her greatest joys.

Eileen is survived by her husband Edward Zaledonis, daughters Ellen Milligan and Lynne Zaledonis, grandchildren Maeve and Griffin Milligan, and sister Mary Love. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Bart Wallace, sister Dee Burrs, and other loved ones.
