- Eintracht Frankfurt's defender, Hrvoje Smolcic, departs from the team
Hrvoje Smolcic, a 25-year-old Croatian defender, has left Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt to join Turkish Super Lig club Kocaelispor on loan. The transfer was confirmed during the recent transfer window.
This loan period will last until the end of the current season, and Kocaelispor has an option to buy Smolcic at the end of his loan spell. The move is not related to Smolcic's previous loan with Linzer ASK, an Austrian club, as he spent last season with the Austrian side.
Smolcic joined Eintracht Frankfurt from HNK Rijeka in Croatia during the summer of 2022. However, his total appearances for the German club amounted to just 32 games.
The new coach of Kocaelispor, Smolcic's new employer, is Δ°nan. Eintracht Frankfurt announced Smolcic's departure, marking the end of his brief but eventful stint with the Bundesliga club based in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
Kocaelispor, located in Turkey, is looking forward to integrating Smolcic into their squad. The defender will undoubtedly bring his experience and skills to the Turkish Super Lig club, adding a new dimension to their defensive line.
