Elderly female passenger involved in bus accident following abrupt stop
On September 01, 2025, a traffic accident occurred at Altewiekring, Braunschweig, involving a bus from Verkehrs AG. The incident, which occurred around 10:40 AM, left a 66-year-old woman from Braunschweig severely injured.
According to the police, the bus driver performed an emergency brake to avoid a collision with a parked car, whose driver's door was open to the road, just before Helmstedter Straße. The woman fell inside the bus during the emergency brake and hit her head on the back wall of the driver's cabin, causing her to become unconscious.
First responders provided immediate CPR to the unconscious woman, and she was then taken to a hospital.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing, as the bus driver and the driver of the parked car have provided different accounts of the situation before the accident. Witnesses of the incident are now being sought as part of the investigation.
