Elderly Individual Robbed by Police Department as per Case No. 0584
In the quiet neighbourhood of Obervieland, Bremen, an 85-year-old man was the victim of a shocking robbery and assault on Monday morning. The perpetrator, who posed as a police officer, made off with the senior's valuables and cash.
The incident began at around 10:05 AM when a man, claiming to be a "profiler," was allowed into the victim's home. He quickly took the opportunity to steal the jewelry and cash before fleeing the scene.
The senior, however, became suspicious and gave chase, causing the man to grab the bags and flee. The senior was later found to have suffered severe bruises and contusions as a result of the altercation.
In a twist of events, false police officers contacted the victim later that morning, claiming several burglaries in the area and asking about jewelry and valuables. The police have taken over the investigation and are urging the public to remain vigilant.
The suspect, who is approximately 180 cm tall, around 30 years old, has a thin face, short dark hair, and was wearing a grey short-sleeved shirt or polo shirt and long pants, has been detained by the Bremen police. This information was confirmed after a pistol with a silencer and ammunition was found in his checked luggage at Bremen Airport in early September 2025.
To prevent such incidents, the Bremen Police advise the public to be cautious and follow certain guidelines. For instance, do not let strangers into your home, involve neighbours or trusted individuals if you have any doubts, and generally, the police will never ask for money or valuables.
