In an exciting development for the electric vehicle (EV) industry in India, Ola Electric Mobility Ltd has unveiled a new electric motor at its Sankalp 2025 event. This motor is set to power the company's upcoming electric motorcycle, the Roadster X.

The Roadster X, yet to enter production, is a significant step for Ola in its mission to cement its top position in the EV market. One of the standout features of the Roadster X is its use of ferrite magnets in the motor system, a departure from the traditional use of rare earth magnets in many EVs.

This decision could potentially benefit Ola in the current geopolitical climate, where the global crisis has affected the availability of rare earth magnets. The use of ferrite magnets in the Roadster X motor could be an advantage, as they are more abundant and less prone to supply chain disruptions.

The Roadster X motor comes in two tunes: 11 kW and 7 kW peak power rating. According to Ola, the motor in the Roadster X's highest trim can accelerate from 0 to 40 kmph in just 2.7 seconds, while the top speed of the motorcycle is claimed to be 125 kmph.

Meanwhile, the potential slowdown in production by major EV players Bajaj and TVS could open opportunities for Ola, including the launch of the Roadster X. Bajaj has reduced its production of electric scooters to approximately 12,000 units in July, hinting at a slowdown in their EV production.

This slowdown in the EV space could be a significant opportunity for Ola, as it looks to establish itself as a leading player in the market. With its innovative use of ferrite magnets in the Roadster X, Ola is well-positioned to seize this opportunity and make a significant impact in the EV industry.

As the Roadster X moves closer to production, electric vehicle enthusiasts and industry experts will be eagerly awaiting its release. With its unique features and potential advantages in the current geopolitical climate, the Roadster X could be a game-changer for the EV industry in India.
