DPD's Electric Tug Wins at the CiTTi Awards

Parcel delivery company DPD has made a significant step towards a more sustainable future by integrating the Terberg YT203-EV electric tug into its HGV fleet. The company's Director of Marketing, Communications & Sustainability, Tim Jones, has expressed positive feedback about the electric tug's performance, praising its ease of use and improved driver comfort.

The YT203-EV, a fully electric tractor, was put to the test by DPD and performed admirably. Real-world testing showed that the electric tug could be effectively charged during the day, maximising working hours. The tested model was equipped with 2 x 78kw batteries and comprehensive regenerative braking.

Terberg DTS provided a visualization of the YT203-EV's performance over a 24-hour period using data from DPD's own vehicles. The results showed that the electric tug's performance is similar to that of a diesel engine.

DPD operates a fleet of over 50 tugs for trailer movements in its central sorting hubs. The YT203-EV's charging is universal, allowing it to be charged at standard DC charging stations, making it a practical choice for DPD's operations.

The electric tug will be recognised at the fourth annual CiTTi Awards on 25 November 2025 at De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London. The CiTTi Awards is an event to recognise and celebrate achievements and innovations in urban logistics. More information about the awards can be found at www.cittiawards.co.uk.

The YT203-EV offers potential for more sustainable shunting and a better working environment for DPD's drivers. With its major advantages in terms of emissions and working conditions, the electric tug is expected to have a significant impact on DPD's operations.

The CiTTi Awards is an unmissable event for the UK's transportation sector. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the latest innovations in urban logistics and network with industry leaders. The electric tug's recognition at the awards highlights the importance of sustainable transportation solutions in the sector.
