Eleven individuals, including a past leader of GVC, a predecessor company of Entain, face accusations in a fraud investigation.
In a significant development, the UK Crown Prosecution Service has announced charges against eleven individuals, including former CEO of GVC Holdings, Kenny Alexander, and former Chairman, Lee Feldman, in connection with alleged fraud and bribery within the sports betting and iGaming industries.
The charges, made under the law of legal offenses, involve criminal activities and are related to business dealings in Turkey between 2011 and 2018. Besides Alexander and Feldman, Richard Cooper (former CFO), Robert Hoskin (Governance Director), and several other former executives have also been charged.
Cooper, along with Robert Dowling, Raymond Smart, Richard Raubitschek-Smith, and James Humberstone, has been charged with conspiracy to defraud and conspiracy to bribe. The case, which is being handled by the UK authorities, is related to the COMPLETE iGAMING sector.
The company involved in the case is Entain, formerly known as GVC Holdings. The charges against the newly named individuals are also related to the activities within the iGaming industry.
The charges against Alexander were announced by the UK Crown Prosecution Service on August 28. The company, Entain, was under investigation by HM Revenue and Customs in the UK for the provision of gambling services in Turkey between 2011 and 2018.
In addition to the individuals mentioned above, Feldman was charged with conspiracy to defraud and conspiracy to bribe between 2011 and 2018. The case underscores the importance of transparency and ethical practices in the iGaming sector.
