Elijah Wood discusses gruesome, strange upcoming film, "The Toxic Avenger"
In theatres now, the long-awaited remake of the classic Troma film, "The Toxic Avenger," is causing a stir with its unique blend of humour and violence.
The movie, set in a slightly heightened reality, follows an unlikely hero as he fights against evil forces conspiring to take over and harm people. Peter Dinklage stars as Winston, a man who undergoes a dramatic transformation into a mutant vigilante after falling into toxic waste.
Kevin Bacon plays Bob Garbinger, the evil boss at the crooked corporation where Dinklage works. Elijah Wood, known for his diverse roles, takes on a new challenge in the remake, playing Fritz Garbinger, Bob's brother and sort-of henchman.
Fritz Garbinger, virtually unrecognizable from Wood's usual roles, is a hunchbacked villain who desires love. Wood found playing this character particularly enjoyable due to the opportunity for a transformative wig-wearing role.
The remake pays homage to the Troma films that inspired it, with a gooey and gory aesthetic that is sure to satisfy fans of the original. The movie is described as hilarious and hyper-violent, making for an entertaining and action-packed watch.
Jacob Tremblay plays Winston's stepson Wade in the remake, adding a touch of heart to the story. Elijah Wood hopes fans enjoy every moment of this wild ride and expresses his excitement for audiences to experience the new story within the context of the original universe.
Troma Entertainment released the original version of "The Toxic Avenger" in 1984, and this remake promises to live up to the legacy of the iconic film. If you're a fan of humour, action, and a good dose of violence, be sure to catch "The Toxic Avenger" remake in theatres now.
